Your appointment

A thorough assessment, with clear next steps.

Your skin is assessed in the context of your history, sun exposure, previous skin cancers, family history and any lesions that concern you.

01

Skin examination

A systematic examination is performed when clinically indicated, with attention to new, changing or symptomatic lesions.

02

Dermoscopy

A dermatoscope reveals colours and structures that cannot be seen clearly with the naked eye and supports clinical decision-making.

03

A clear plan

Depending on the findings, the plan may involve reassurance, photography, monitoring, biopsy, treatment or specialist referral.

Local skin cancer care

From detection to treatment and follow-up.

Comprehensive skin checks

Risk-based assessment and examination of the skin.

Dermoscopy and photography

Closer assessment and digital comparison where appropriate.

Skin biopsies

Punch, shave or excisional biopsy selected for the clinical situation.

Skin cancer treatment

Treatment of suitable BCC, SCC and melanoma based on pathology and risk.

Flaps and skin grafts

Reconstructive options for selected surgical defects.

Total body photography

Risk-based monitoring for selected patients with many or atypical moles.

When to arrange an assessment

Do not ignore a new or changing spot.

  • A new lesion that looks different from your other spots
  • A mole changing in size, shape, colour or pattern
  • A sore that does not heal
  • A spot that bleeds, crusts, becomes tender or grows

Who may need regular surveillance?

Follow-up may be appropriate for people with a personal or family history of melanoma, previous skin cancers, substantial sun exposure, many or atypical moles, or immune suppression. The appropriate interval is determined individually.

Coordinated care

Local treatment when suitable. Specialist care when needed.

Clinical decisions take account of the diagnosis, tumour features, anatomical site, general health and patient preferences. Complex, high-risk or difficult cases can be coordinated with dermatology, Mohs surgery, plastic surgery and other specialist services.

Information for referring clinicians

Common questions

Before your skin check.

Do I need a referral?

A referral is not usually required to book a skin check with Dr Amin Amiri through MY GP Hub. Contact the clinic if you are unsure which appointment to select.

What should I bring?

Bring details of previous skin cancers or pathology reports if available, and identify any lesions that are new, changing or causing symptoms.

Will every suspicious spot be removed immediately?

Not necessarily. The next step depends on the clinical and dermoscopic findings. A separate biopsy or treatment appointment may be required.

Is total body photography suitable for everyone?

It is particularly useful for selected higher-risk patients. Its suitability and the monitoring interval are determined individually.
